Information added to this web essay involved the uploading of
digital copies of artworks and photographs for which I have the copyrights.
The information included in this study relates to comments
or a restacking of a digital image which is part of the routine practice and
activities on the website. Other information relates to an expression of
interest in the artwork by means of ‘following’, ‘favoriting’, or ‘liking’ of
the digital images, features that are promoted and encouraged by the social
media websites.
All materials used are for illustration purposes and have
been made anonymous to avoid identification of individuals, the users of the
social media sites. However, artists can be identified and this is in part to
give credits to their work featured.
The data is kept on a laptop (with external drive backup)
and a secure repository (Flick’r and Dropbox) and will be deleted 12 months after
completion of the project.
Visual logs have been kept and include digital images that
are a combination of images and text. The images were used used for the purpose
of category building and informed the findings and the conclusions of the
research.
The research was carried out between 1 October 2013 and 30 September 2014.
